V1.02

  • Massive performance increase (pretty close to stable 30 fps across the whole game, there’s a few ui situations like the Item Get that don’t affect gameplay and still drop to ~25 fps)
  • Optimised file sizes to store way more in memory meaning out of memory crashes are way less likely now
  • Fixed a few crashes that were found in playtesting and one that was reported
  • Fixed ambient sfx loops not being affected by volume sliders
  • Fixed a dialog overflow bug on one of the characters
  • Fixed brittle platforms respawning with 1 pixel offset
  • Minor art change for blightweeds (they just looked like they could use a bit of polish)

I’m sorry getting the performance up has taken so long, Lua is an interesting language to optimise. I’m really happy with where the game is now.

I’ll obviously continue to support the game with bug fixes pretty much indefinitely but I’m also hoping to add a bit of content later on in the year. Nothing huge, but a few extras like achievements and a possible secret ending, hopefully it can coincide with a port to PC for people who don’t have a playdate but we’ll see
