Beyond Omega - Update 1
Hi there!
I’m bumbleborn, been making games for about 7 years, I haven’t posted a devlog on itch before but I released a demo for my platformer a while back.
What’s this game then?!
Beyond Omega is a top down shooter similar to Nuclear Throne, there’s gonna be a few original spins on mechanics in there but not until the basics are in.
So far there is;
- shooting, health, all the basic combat stuff
- proc gen levels (that are not balanced at all)
- mega simple enemies
- upgrades for your weapon
- you collect scrap from enemies and use it to buy upgrades
bouncy bullets! (apologies for the terrible gif quality haha)
It’s a small game I’m making to test out Godot (spoilers, it’s a pretty good engine), I’ve got a rough plan for how the game will grow from here, to begin I’ll just be balancing and polishing but later I’ll start adding all the cool things that will make this an interesting game to play for hours.
The first big feature will be the ground material serving as your ammo, so if you’re standing in a swamp you’ll shoot poison ammo, enemies will have resistances, maybe the ground will get used up as you shoot, there’s loads of possibilities for this mechanic!
The second, a giant simple map of biomes between levels with any pixel on the map generating it’s own unique level, there will be special points that generate specific levels with things you’ll need to collect in a run to get to the final boss.

I’m working on this game over lunches at work and a few hours on the weekend, so probably about 10 hours a week, I’ll aim for an update every week but we’ll see what happens
